Every first-year deadline for your USDOT number

Enter your USDOT number to see what's due and when. It's free, it uses FMCSA's public carrier data, and it never asks for your PIN, login or contact details.

Check your first-year deadlines

What this checks

About 15,000 new USDOT numbers are issued every month (FMCSA's public data, June through September 2026). Every one of those carriers faces the same first-year paperwork, and most of it arrives as letters and emails that look a lot like the scams. This tool reads your public record and tells you, in plain language, which of these apply to you:

  • The new entrant safety audit. FMCSA audits every new interstate carrier within 12 months of when it starts operating. Carriers who don't respond to the audit notice can be placed out of service.
  • The two-yearly registration update, in a month set by your USDOT number. FMCSA has paused enforcement while its new Motus system settles in.
  • UCR, which interstate carriers renew every year. 2027 registration is open now.
  • BOC-3 and insurance filings for carriers hauling for pay.
  • A drug and alcohol testing program if you have CDL drivers. Not having one fails the audit automatically.

Why I built it

I'm a software engineer, not a government office. New carriers get flooded with calls and letters from companies pretending to be FMCSA, and it's hard to tell what's real. Everything here comes from FMCSA's own published data and the federal rules, with the rule cited so you can check it. Who runs this.
